Hispanic classical guitarist Joseph Ochoa started as a self-taught guitarist who started at 12 years old and came from no musical background within him or his family, coming from a small town with a community with little to no knowledge of classical music, Joseph was lucky enough to come across an ethnomusicologist who specialized in Flamenco music whom gave him musical exposure opportunities, and later was guided by Grammy award-winning artist “Jason Vieaux” through online lessons.
Joseph has had many solo and chamber performances in many venues across CA including CSUB Concert Hall, CSUM Concert hall, SF Yacht Club, KVPR Radio, CMEA Festival multiple times in different locations, Business Occasion Venues, Art Galleries, Children’s Hospitals and etc.
Joseph Ochoa has won 1 st Place in the Sierra Nevada Youth Competition where he also took overall division 1 st place for the entire Youth Division in all its categories, also a multiple prize winner of the highest award in both regionals and state level at CMEA music festivals. Joseph has participated in masterclasses with world-renowned artists such as Carlos Perez, Ben Verdery, Scott Tennant, Eliot Fisk, Zoran Dukic, William Kanengiser, David Russell, and Kazuhito Yamashita. Joseph has graduated from San Francisco Conservatory of Music for a Bachelors of Music under the guidance of David Tanenbaum, Judicael Perroy, and Marcin Dylla.
